New Ai CNC Ported Dart LT1 Pro-1's

As one of the few shops to get our hands on the new Dart "180cc" LT1 Pro-1 castings we immediately began working with them. The bare casting from Dart is a nice piece. It is on par with most other aftermarket bare castings. However, as is the case with most castings, significant improvement lies just beneath the surface.

The #'s are average across most of the lift range, & many will purchase the bare casting based on the approximately 263cfm peak intake airflow. For a 190cc intake port (actual measured volume as cast with Ferrea 2.02" intake valves) 263cfm peak as-cast is a nice benchmark. However, these flow numbers indicate quantity of airflow, not quality of airflow. Often, ports that are very turbulent will put up an artificially high flow number as they become unstable. A precipitous drop in measured airflow will follow. This is the case with many as-cast ports of various types that we have tested including the new Dart "180" LT1.

Fortunately, alleviating the instability, bringing velocities into optimum ranges, and generating a more desireable charge motion are all achieved without being forced to generate an overly large port design in this new casting. Our new Dart based CNC offerings will be comprised of two distinct levels of porting. Our first release, a budget oriented package, will officially be added to our site soon and will meet the following design criterion:
  • 205cc Intake Port Volume
  • Fully CNC Ported Intake Runners
  • Fully CNC Ported Exhaust Runners
  • 58cc Combustion Chamber Volume
  • All Edges Fully Hand De-burred
  • Steel Jacketed Viton valve Seals
  • Stainless Steel Super-Flo Int/Exh Valves
  • 2.020" Intake & 1.600" Exhaust Valve Dia.
  • Pacalloy Beehive Springs for .600" net valve lift
  • 4130 ChromeMoly Hardened Retainers, Locks, and Locators

  • Projected Selling Price: $1995

  • Here is a sneak peek of one of our development ports vs. the as-cast baseline flow numbers. Keep in mind these are not our final numbers at 205cc, but illustrate our significant improvements at only 10cc over the as-cast ports. We do not publically quantify our most important design considerations - velocity gradient, charge motion, and flow stability. However, all have been vastly improved over the as-cast ports. The finished product at 205cc will show an additional 1-3% measured airflow across the board over the development ports used in the comparison below.

Here are our baseline flow numbers, averaged from all ports in the head.
